Cost-effective pumping stations and flood prevention with WaStop
The sewage treatment plant in Jämshög has an average flow of about 3000 cubic meters of water, but at high flows in Holje, Snöfleboda and Vilshultsån it can be up to about 17000 cubic meters of water.
This means that the water from the rivers is pushed into the emergency drains of the pumping stations, which in turn means that clean water is pumped to the treatment plant and the pumping stations run at high speed. In order not to overburden the treatment plant, avoid flooding and save both time and money on operation and maintenance, Wapro was contacted.
The solution
To solve the problem, Skåne Blekinge Vattentjänst has installed several WaStops. This prevents water from the rivers from entering via the emergency drains and causing flooding.
The WaStop installations have been carried out in stages and Wapro was involved in one of the cases to provide support. Three different installations were carried out, each taking about 5-7 minutes to complete. Quickly and smoothly, they have now managed to prevent clean water from being pumped to the treatment plant, and that the pumping stations only pump wastewater and do not have to pump clean river water. Skåne Blekinge Vattentjänst has saved both time and money.
