Newly built residential area protected against flooding
The old industrial area at the harbor entrance in Kristinehamn has been given new life with the newly built residential area Sannakajen. The residential area is popular with its proximity to nature and water and the possibility of a private boat mooring at the newly built piers. Today, large parts of the industrial area are built with retirement homes, apartment buildings, townhouses and villas in a modern design, several of them energy-efficient. The first family moved in on a sunny day in July 2016.
In connection with the development, both during construction and after moving in, the area has been affected by flooding as a result of the area being located at the lowest point where rainwater reaches and the area having many paved surfaces with roads, parking lots and buildings, which means that rain and unnecessary water have caused extensive damage and costs to several homes.
Kristinehamn Municipality needed to find a quick solution to the problem before more homes were damaged.
The solution
Kristinehamn Municipality's water and sanitation department has previously installed the WaStop check valve on both waste and stormwater pipes and has good experience of a simple installation and a high-quality and reliable product.
For the installations at Sannakajen, WaStop Access Large is used, an Access well with a check valve that provides installation savings on construction and installation costs together with low maintenance costs.

A total of 8 wells have been installed on all service connections in the area.
