WaReg protects sensitive nature reserve in Huddinge
Wapro is helping people in the leisure area around Skogskärrsvägen in Huddinge to transform their holiday homes into permanent homes next to the fantastic Orlången nature reserve. In order to convert to permanent homes, the area needed to be built with a municipal stormwater network.
From the stormwater flow, most of the particles in the water needed to be sedimented before it was released into the nearby lake, Magelungen. In this case, it was extra sensitive, with the direct proximity to both the nature reserve and the lake. A failed purification process could lead to major damage to the ecosystem.
The solution
The purification was achieved by allowing the water to pass through and be purified through a smaller dam. When the pipeline network was designed, the space for the dam was limited. In order to prevent the dam from being overloaded and flooded with untreated water, the maximum capacity of the dam was calculated. It was set at 75 liters per second. A WaReg adapted for the aforementioned maximum value was installed and was able to take care of the high demands made by the customer and the environment.
In a situation where regulation of water flow is necessary or when you want to be able to redirect the water in order not to overload a certain area, e.g. during heavy rainfall, a WaReg is a fantastic product. In addition, it is of course built to be able to handle dirt and sludge that is normally carried along in the stormwater.
