Denmark’s largest Wastop to the Port of Esbjerg
Flooding at Esbjerg Port caused by high sea levels. The Port of Esbjerg in Denmark has long had problems with flooding caused by high sea levels that push into the stormwater system. When seawater enters the system, it becomes overloaded, which can cause damage to buildings and infrastructure in the area.
In the port, there are large forces from waves and wind that increase the risk of flooding. This has been a major problem for both the Municipality of Esbjerg and the companies operating in the port. To solve the problem, an effective solution has been sought that can protect the stormwater system from flooding during high sea levels.
The solution
The solution that Esbjerg Municipality and the port company chose was our WaStop DN1800 check valve in the outlet of the stormwater pipe. This will be the largest WaStop in Denmark. The choice for a WaStop was easy as the customer already had an eb WaStop DN1600 installed for 2 years.
The WaStop has high resistance to external factors, such as waves etc. This means that Esbjerg Municipality could feel confident that the WaStop DN1800 will cope with the large forces from waves and wind in the port area. The installation of the WaStop DN1800 is carried out in the outlet of one of the stormwater pipes in the port and is expected to help prevent flooding at high sea levels. The fact that the WaStop requires minimal maintenance and can be easily cleaned when necessary is a big plus when it comes to check valves of this size.
In conclusion, WaStop DN1800 is a perfect solution to protect the Port of Esbjerg against flooding caused by high sea levels as well as a perfect choice to handle the challenges of waves and wind in the port area.
