WaGate protects Örebro

Our customer in Örebro Municipality, a municipality with 155,730 inhabitants, required that they could shut off their stormwater pipe in the event of a fire. When extinguishing a fire, contaminated firefighting water flows down the stormwater pipe, which then flows out into the nearest watercourse. Firefighting water in stormwater pipes has a negative impact on the environment and preventive measures were needed. We were able to help them with this.

The solution

For this solution, we have built 2 shut-off valves (WaGate SVM-TG) in a DN1400 well. Normally, stormwater flows straight through the well, that is, the large valve is open and the small one is closed. Should an accident occur, the large valve is closed and the small one is opened. This usually happens via a signal from a fire alarm or similar. When the small valve is opened, the contaminated extinguishing water is led to a closed chamber/storage, which makes clean-up much easier and allows us to protect the nearest watercourse from contaminated extinguishing water. As usual, we thank you for your trust and are happy that we can protect the residents of Örebro.
