Installation of Wastop in Svenljunga

Svenljunga uses 100% groundwater for its drinking water source and supplies water to 7,500 people every day. When it comes to land use in the areas and the use of chemicals, the groundwater areas are protected. Protecting drinking water in this way is good, but not completely safe. Each of the municipality's 19 water reservoirs has an overflow pipe from the reservoirs in case they overflow – either to a ditch, a watercourse or a stormwater system.

It was decided to install check valves on all overflow pipes from the water reservoirs to prevent backflow from watercourses and stormwater pipes, but also to protect the reservoirs from animals and insects getting in.

The solution

By installing WaStop on all of their reservoir overflow lines, they ensure that backflow, insects, animals, and odors cannot enter the drinking water reservoir, thereby protecting the city's water supply.
