Insect Protection & Odor Control

Prevent insects and unpleasant odours from spreading through sewer and drainage systems. With the right check valve, both intrusion and odours can be stopped without restricting normal water flow.

When the sewer system becomes a pathway for insects and odours

Sewer and drainage systems can provide pathways for insects and unpleasant odours. Insects can travel through pipes and cause problems in connected spaces, while odours can spread from chambers and other parts of the pipe network into areas where people live and work.

Effective protection needs to prevent unwanted movement without disrupting normal drainage. By creating a tight barrier against entry from the opposite direction, both insects and odours can be restricted while water can still pass through when it needs to drain away. This protection can be incorporated into both new and existing installations.

How can insects and odours be stopped in pipe systems?

Preventing insects and odours from spreading through pipes requires a solution that seals tightly when no water is flowing but opens automatically when water flows in the intended direction.

WaStop Inline Check valve features a flexible membrane that opens with the water flow and seals tightly when the flow stops. In stormwater and drainage pipes, the membrane forms a barrier that helps prevent insects and odours from travelling back through the pipe without obstructing normal drainage.

Family in Sjöbo gets rid of smelly hydrogen sulfide

We installed a WaStop in an existing well between the house and the pipe from which the sulfur smell came. The WaStop is completely sealed against odor and backflow. Today, the sulfur smell does not reach the house but stays in the pipe downstream of the WaStop.

The family living in the house is satisfied and the municipality has solved the problem.
