The problem

Black Sluice IDB protects a large area of Lincolnshire, stretching from Sleaford to the coast, that is home to 500m miles of waterways and 34 pumping stations. One of these pumping stations proved invaluable in the fight to protect Wyberton, a coastal area to the south east of Boston district.

Thanks to the WaStop’s versatile functionality, it is used around the globe in a wide range of different situations. While most WaStops are installed to protect either individual or groups of homes, Black Sluice IDB found an innovative use that helped protect an entire district.
